I've never done this before. These were the words of this one veteran mountain climber we ran into on the Hidden Valley Trail, referring only to this one particular rock face out of the many found all around Joshua Tree National Park. Among the unique trees Joshua Tree has to offer, it also is home to some super fun rock climbing. Mastodon Peak was a climb we did this trip, a nice 2.6 mile hike up to a great view of the park and the Salton Sea. Some of the climbs we saw were easy and some looked extremely difficult. There were climbers who wore ropes and harnesses, and some that ascended the rocks completely free. There was so much to do and see at the park I can't wait for the next trip.
